Kerry Newberry is a writer based in Portland, Oregon, where she chases stories about people through the lens of food, wine, farming, and travel. Her research has taken her hiking on a truffle hunt with chefs, cruising in a skiff with oyster farmers off the Oregon coast and trekking through vineyards in Galicia, Spain.

Her writing has been featured in dozens of publications, including Alaska Beyond, Travel Oregon, Sunset, Edible Portland, The Oregonian’s MIX Magazine, Forbes, Fodor’s Travel Publications, Civil Eats, Oregon Public Broadcasting, Wine & Spirits Magazine, SIP Northwest and more.

In her free time she enjoys hosting dinner parties, visiting independent books stores (she is a master of tsundoku), and planning her next trip. Her current travel wish list includes snorkeling in Palau, hiking the slopes of Carrauntoohil, harvesting olives in Tuscany, and eating her way through Croatia.

She holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership for Sustainability from Portland State University and has studied with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust. Her writing has been recognized with multiple awards and fellowships by Les Dames d’ Escoffier International, Edible Communities, and the Symposium for Professional Wine Writers.
